【摘要】:Thespiralcontractometer,properlyused,willgivereproducibleresults(see8.5)overawiderangeofstressvalues.Internalstresslimitswiththismethodcanbespecifiedforusebyboththepurchaserandtheproducerofplatedorelectroformedparts.Platingwithlargetensilestresseswillreducethefatiguestrengthofaproductmadefromhigh-strengthsteel.Maximumstresslimitscanbespecifiedtominimizethis.Otherpropertiesaffectedbystressincludecorrosionresistance,dimensionalstability,cracking,andpeeling.Incontrolofelectroformingsolutions,theeffectsofstressaremorewidelyrecognized,andthecontrolofstressisusuallynecessarytoobtainausableelectroform.Internalstresslimitscanbedeterminedandspecifiedforproductioncontrol.Internalstressvaluesobtainedbythespiralcontractometerdonotnecessarilyreflecttheinternalstressvaluesfoundonapartplatedinthesamesolution.Internalstressvarieswithmanyfactors,suchascoatingthickness,preparationofsubstrate,currentdensity,andtemperature,aswellasthesolutioncomposition.Closercorrelationisachievedwhenthetestconditionsmatchthoseusedtocoatthepart.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheuseofthespiralcontractometerformeasuringtheinternalstressofmetalliccoatingsasproducedfromplatingsolutionsonahelicalcathode.Thetestmethodcanbeusedwithelectrolyticandautocatalyticdeposits.1.2ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
